Blue Cap Opens a New Classroom
Blue Cap has taken great pride in responding to the needs of our community since opening its doors in 1967.
Today, we are equally proud to respond to the community's needs by opening a new classroom focused on the specific needs of adults who are medically and physically fragile. The classroom is set up in a home-like setting offering comfort and promoting overall well being.
Due in large part to the generous support of the "Special Project" at the 2009 auction fundraiser, Blue Cap was able to create an environment of enrichment through the purchase of adaptive chairs and tables for adults with physical disabilities. In addition, it also provided Blue Cap the funding to obtain software, electronic equipment, communication and sensory-integration materials to develop interactive stations focusing on tactile, auditory and visual senses.
This equipment offers the individuals necessary support and opportunity to expand their world, to interact and have an impact on their surrounds. It affords them the chance to make their own choices and show their personal preferences in life ... perhaps for the first time.
We are proud of the strides that the individuals supported in this program have made and we look forward to continued growth and success in the new classroom. |
